Depends on your style of fishing. Back in the day when I was doing a lot of tourney fishing I had my big Rangers and I also had an aluminum jet rig. I backed out of fishing for a few years while...
Thanks for all the replies. I may upgrade graphs at some time in the future, but first on the list is the Ghost.
I’m currently running 2 Lowrance TI2 on my Ranger RT 188, one at the console and one up front. I have the 3-1 transducers mounted on both. I use the side scan feature on the console mounted unit...
I can run in about 6” of water….jet equipped!
I can run in about 6” of water with mine…..jet equipped!
Let me know when you throw out those old batteries in the trash and I’ll be waiting on the curb to dumpster dive!
I was a Ranger dealer back in 2004 the the first Z boats came out for the 2005 model year. We quickly found out at 10” hydraulic jackplate worked wonders on them and you had to adjust for low speed...
Has anyone modified their bow switches to add a livewell aerator to the front panel? If so, photos please. That is one feature I miss from my “big” Rangers I owned in the past is being able to turn...
Yes they did. Me too, i liked the rails.
I was a Ranger dealer back in the day when the Z21 first came out. I believe 2005 was the first year, I ran several as my pro-staff-demo boats and when I sold my dealership I kept a Z21, loved it. ...
Yes, I opened in the spring of 1998 and sold in September 2006. Depending on when you bought in 2006 it may have been me.
If you bought it cheap enough, then ok. I didn’t like trading for the Ficht Injection motor at all unless I was into them very cheap. 115 hp and below were ok, but the larger ones seemed to have...
Yes, it is a poor design. Mine bent a couple years ago and they sent me a new one under warranty. I kept the old one and thought about welding some plates on it and keeping it as a spare. If the...
I owned a Ranger dealership from 1998-2006 and used to advertise on here with Al back in the day. I was a regular contributor on posting as well. I sold the 3 major brands, Evinrude, Yamaha and...
I have one now, and have had 6 or 7 in the past. BRP quit producing outboards, but parts will be around for a long while. I’m not worried in the least.
I have a 150 Etec on my RT188 with a jet unit….so it’s technically a 105 hp, but the weight is the same a regular 150. No issues with weight.

I put all my bass rods in sleeves and can get 14 in the 8 tube rod box, my panfish poles go on the running rod rack by the passenger seat.
Just get you one of these and you can run really shallow. Many years ago I used to keep two boats, glass Ranger and a jet, now I’m downsized to one.
What are you running for a cranking battery?
Years ago when I was a dealer, I had many occasions to speak with Forrest and Nina. The were truly genuine folks.
I’m a former Ranger dealer from way back…..keep what you have as long as it’s running good. Save up your “new boat” payment and re-power yours if the motor goes. But that’s just me. When I sold my...
Owned both glass and tin, plus sold them all when I was a Ranger dealer…..I’m in a tin now running a jet. Glass isn’t too keen on skinny water.
