How is this rod for 6/0-8/0 beast hooks and 6" paddletails, using say 17lb fluoro?
It's roughly 30 IPTs with that 34 mm spool...in fast moving water or current, it's fine, but you will need a heavier chatter and a trailer that won't rise as much.

Most any quality duo lock will do. Match the size and strength ratings to the line rating and lure sizes. I use VMC and Spro, Owner, and even the no brand name ones from Lure Parts online.

The BS 706 was one of my favorite SGlass customs back in the day...anything moving from 3/8-1/2 spinnerbaits to cranks, it waa great with 10-12 CXX.
Another sleeper with braid would be the Daiwa BLX 7'4" MH Limber model.
I've done this for years on topwaters and started last year on smaller cranks...it's great for both
But yes, it takes time and patience.
