I believe the Yamaha synthetic is top quality oil. I'd run any marine oil of proper viscosity and change it on time. I've been running mystic synthetic.
That looks to be the pressed in trilobe pin. You should be good.
If I ran that motor, I'd safety wire it, no question.
Word on the street is 5/16-24 x1/2 stainless bolt with two threads shaved off end fit. It's not ideal but when the part is back ordered for a month it allows one to still fish.
I'm starting to wonder if the clamping force of the bolt is not sufficient because the bolt clamps onto a rounded surface. May need to drill bolt head and safety wire bolt until mercury responds. I...
My brother has 200 pro xs and from day one has same low water pressure. Mercury stated if water temp is fine, don't worry about it. Still seems wrong to me. Also watch top of trim ram for pin to...
I'll let you know in about 6 years. I'm at 235hrs with 0 issue. I don't think bass fishing motors accumulate high engine hours like work boats or off shore rigs. My brother fishes ocean out of...
Adding another pro xs v8 to the list. My brother called me and said his trim went wonky. He checked for pin and its missing. Something is not correct with the design of the pin or that portion of...
220hrs no issues. Perfect motor. Never made oil.
Don't be afraid to try enertia prop. Possibly a 19 or 21p. I run a different setup, alumacraft comp 205 with 250sho. I've ran bravo fs, sw2 20p, tempest 19p, enertia 17, 18, 19p.
Enertia 19p and...
I use this type...
Propping means to select the correct pitch prop to equal 600-6200 rpm at max throttle/speed trimmed out. It may take 2 or 3 props to get there.
I've played with a few props rpm 5800 to 6200. I agree on propping to at least 6000rpm with some room for winter or running light to hit 6200.
I know the wires are small but can you reconnect them?
So like 5% oil left over sucking out dipstick. Not a big deal in my opinion vs the ease of dipstick procedure.
I run alumacraft comp 205 spt. In 3 years boat has performed quite well especially for bass fishing open/bigger water. Few things I don't like; low speed tracking while using kicker motor, boat...
Was this 2 stroke oil?
I also followed Mercury's break in and my 250 sho has never made oil.
What year sho?
I only have one lithium iron phosphate starting battery so my experience is limited. I can guarantee my battery does not put out full current below 40F. Around 35F, I turn key on so headlight draws...
Do you fish in cold weather? I've had issues with my lithium motorcycle battery if temps drop below 45f. I use my boat until ice up. Thanks
I think that's a great deal. I couldn't and still can't find a 2075 Pro V deep v within $10k of the bass version.
You could have same issue with bms if that bms allows high charge currents. I use lithium starting battery on my motorcycle, no issues so far. Although that is completely different charging...
Mercury and other companies may monitor their alternators in order to protect them. Would have to investigate more.
