I would take the slide pins out and take a look. Pretty sure you have a UFP caliper and the slides are an issue. On mine, it's a completely round pin in a completely round hole. There is no relief...

Can use a good “ paint sealant” from a big box store. I’ve used Griot’s and like it. Also like the Pro-tec products.
I have one setup, older Lew’s TP, that I can’t use with a softer bait and Sunline Super fluoro. Backlashes a lot. I think I may not have reassembled the reel correctly or that line is real finicky....
Heck, throw an A-rig in there and some swimbaits. My first choices would be the lipless and a big spinnerbait.
