Ended up with some aluminum filter screen from McMaster-Carr that has roughly the same dimensions as the original. Gonna try to form it into the existing frame and see what happens. If that doesn't...
The screen part of the filter was extremely brittle and pretty much broke all out when I pulled it out of the LU. The frame is still intact. Was thinking of getting some sort of marine epoxy/JB...
Anybody got any suggestions??
Thanks ChampioNman
Life happens, finally got around to getting back to working on this. The part did not fit, so I'm out the cash, oh well. What other options do I have?? What's the risk of...
Good morning! I have a 1984 Evinrude 60 E60TLCRE. I've pulled the lower unit for water pump replacement and found noticed the plastic water intake screen was breaking. I've tried to find a...
I ordered OMC pinion and shaft, and both upper and lower bushings from Marine Engine earlier in the week. Should have them in hand Monday or Tuesday. What all do I need to clean? Do I need to put...
you mean rebuild the starter? clean the pinion shaft?
Got the flywheel cover off! Everything looked ok, wave washer in place, pinion shaft clean. All gears intact. Seemed like a lot of play in the bushings. Thinking I need to replace both bushings,...
Thanks ChampioNman...sorry to ask so many questions. I'm used to working on an '84 60HP 2 cylinder 'rude, so this is definitely new territory for me. I appreciate the help! I really have no...
Fishooky,
Thanks!! I may not have been clear enough in my questions. I have no issue pulling the timing cover, it's the timing wheel that is presenting the problem. I have a hard time...
Finally have time to get to this and I have more questions. If I don't follow the procedure in the manual when it comes to removing the the timing cover, will I screw up the timing? Do I just need...
Do I need the piston stop tool the manual talks about? This is new territory for me.
Already pulled the starter, gear is in place. To be honest, I'm a little leary of pulling the cover off the flywheel because I don't want to screw up the throttle set up.
Absolutely positive, motor isn't spinning long enough to start. Bendix appears to be engaged for only one revolution of the flywheel, then disengages. Starter is still spinning.
Yes sir on both counts. Connections are clean, new battery, cables in good shape.
I'm having an issue with the starter on my 115hp Johnson. It's not the type of starter I"m used to. The bendix is separate from the starter. It's only turning the flywheel through maybe one...
Thank you sir!!
Good evening. I have a 2000 115hp Johnson. Trying to diagnose a starter problem. I'm the 3rd owner of this boat, and unsure of hours. I have googled my butt off trying to find a service manual...
Thank you sir!! I'll check all that out in the next day or so and get back to you.
No sir...just the ignition key and a trailer lock key
Had my boat out on the lake this weekend. Was running pretty smooth on plane until I hit some wakes/rough water and motor would cut out then surge. RPMS bouncing from 5K down to around 3.5K and back...
Rebuilt my buddy's VRO today. It was surprisingly easy to do. Followed the instructions I had to the letter. Gonna run it next weekend and see how she does.
...
Ok. I verifed with my buddy that the problem goes away when he squeezes the primer bulb. Looks like a definite fuel issue. He told me he has replaced the primer bulb, fuel lines, fittings and had...
Thanks ChampioNman. I'll pass that along. Next time you talk to TXChamp, tell him I said howdy!! Weather's finally getting nice enough here to hit the water.
