I use the 1000 size for panfishing with 4lb and 6lb test lines.
For bass fishing i always use a 2500.

The good smell is castor oil.
Castor oil has a very high flash point which makes it good for high rpm / lean conditions that burn hot....such as a 300 drag @ 10,000 RPM.
