I'd fish it. I keep a small basket in my boat for used plastics and just grab a random one lots of times.
Good call Fred! His knowledge, and your willingness to go dumpster diving just saved you $150! You'd think those little brass jets were made of uranium lol!
Congrats. Great looking boat Ron, you'll love the Sabre, very similar to your PII and with it being single console Ill bet it feels just as roomy. Those 175 Pro XS are stout too.
Congrats on the...

:beers: Fred is one of the best! Thanks again for all your help over the years bud!
I didnt know that about the tapers but makes sense. And I agree, now that I have experimented on a few jets I can see why getting good and consistent results would be tough. I could see building a...
Picked up brand new OEM 74D's yesterday, they all pin gauged at exactly .077" so +.003" over. When I say exactly I mean that the .077 gauge went in easy, but was snug with no wiggle and the .078...
Who says he uses any?
DCorbin,
Im still going to post my findings when I get to pin gauge a NEW set of D jets, 2 of the ones I ordered are coming out of a further away warehouse so all 6 wont be at the dealer til...
Great prop for that boat when it was cooler and running solo, mid-summer and 2 people it needed a 23p

Thanks, didnt realize they were full.
I havent driven it yet, but my Pop did, said it came out of the hole faster, lifted a tad better and still ran 60 @5500. So Im happy with that, his 285 Pro...

And that is why Im bucking (punned intended, those little jets are $$$) up and buying 6 new 74D's. Monty recommends the 74D's with his heads and that's what I ran on my last one that ran perfect. ...
Thinking about it, all the jets I gauged were well used, so new 74D's might not be a full .005" over like the used ones were... but Ill bet they are at least .003" over... I will know this week and...
Following this as I too have been playing with the D series main jets and pin gauges. I rebuilt a Fast Strike (actually installed power head Sunday) and I was checking the jetting that was in it and...
