Typically that scout mode is used in shallow water but Active Target in scout mode works great in deeper water as well.

If one side is not showing then probably something wrong with transducer - if unit is all up to date then I would say transducer.
On the downscan for the AI3-in-1 there is no frequency setting - it is auto.
Depending on what you want - HDI for down and 2D is always a great option - you can also run the AI3-in-1. What trolling motor do you have?
You can mirror to an iPad but only mirror - you can not see a seperate transducer from what is on the screen of the Live/Carbon, etc.
