Looks great, I like them. But you might want to round the corners much more so you don't drag your hand or arm and get cut/sliced on the corners. I can just visualize getting your elbow caught on...

Put it where it can be seen and miniplicated easy from beside the boat. You won't always want to sit in the boat to say, check the hours, or fuel mileage. Therefore I'd put it in the right side hole.
