You can find a used gearcase for that motor in the 4-800 dollar range. Lots out there that will fit it. Far cheaper than a new engine unless you need an excuse to get a new one, lol.

You can get them from any merc dealer or any walmart/bass pro/academy sports, or any store that has an outdoor section that sells common boat motor parts.

Do a full link n synch procedure first to verify everything is where it should be. Check your sensors by the book, easy to do. Once you know everything's setup right then you can troubleshoot.

Put an impeller in it some fresh fuel and roll. Maybe check gear oil if you know it hadn't been done recently before sitting.

Could be end of crank full of grease.

Does it have a whale tale or anything like that? Does it change when you trim up? Does it lean at all speeds on plane?

How does it run once up and going?

You’ll either need a nose cone or a sporty, those Bullets run jacked to the moon compared to most boats. It’ll drive a lot better when set up right too.

Worst case looks like bore .015 over and a new piston and go. Hard to tell how deep grooves are. I’ve seen a lot worse still running.

About sounds like an injector driver or switchbox not firing right until it gets running and makes a good electrical connection. Motors sound fine to me, I wouldn’t expect them to be very smoky out...

50:1 is not heavy on oil, they’ll idle on that all day. Think about what 50:1 is and how little oil there really is in a given amount of fuel, it’s not enough to make a difference.

Or if you hear the horn at wot. Seems pretty common by the time you realize it’s the horn going off and get her shut down it’s too late.
