I've never tried the parasite clip but a small/med barrel swivel will do the same thing. I bend one end up so it sits perpendicular to the line.

Another good tip, slip them on a safety pin. That way, they are secured in the storage box and already have a pierced hole for easier installation.

I just super glued the edges. Guess you could use a spray adhesive.

I took the foam screen protection sheet that came with my TV, cut it to size & glued it in. It was thick enough to close the voids but thin enough to allow it close properly.
