Mercury lower units when on muffin have water exit in other locations besides the tell tail. Don't see this when in the water because of the lower unit is submerged for anyone else

Wife and I are watching it tonight. Yes some is not even close to country music but there are some very good musicans too. That alone is a good reason to watch. There is also the humor which these...
Yep, that cold of weather even in a garage wet carpet sounds probmatic. Wait till spring. You could sprinkle some baking soda to get rid of any smell then vacume it good come spring. Worth a try...
Just updating this old post. I was on the right track all along. I took the boat in and they did a tune up. They said one of the plugs was fouled and carbs needed adjustment which I knew because I...
Anyone who would like a good tip on restoring these clips on the lower unit shift rods let me know.
Don't use it like I said but suggest using the Dielectric grease on the other electrical connectors like connections on your instrument panel. Also when I remove my spark pluga I put some heat from...
Just follow up to this old post. The leak was actually the hose connection to the fuel pump. Cheesy spring clamps Yamaha puts on. Changed them all to stainless hose clamps and no more leaks
Oh don't loose the tilt motor drive gear when removing it like I did. I had to make a new one from a allen
Thanks, got all broke loose now. Got the right spanner face pin tool and put a pipe on it. Did the same on the shock piston. Good to go.

What kHz coverage should i have it set on in 300 to 400 ft in saltwater
300 to 400 ft
Got it out on the water last week and having it on saltwater for water type really helped. The only issue now is the variations in depth once in awhile? I had it on narrow beam 8th but maybe I should...
Wow didn't know that. It's in the advance settings for water type and default is fresh water. There is other advance settings I just found too. Thanks for the tip and hope others will read this too.
I have a helix 5 sonar/GPS unit that works on a lake consistently but inconsistent on saltwater? When heading out in saltwater to drop pots in 70 to 100th of water it works but when back up on plain...
Thanks, it also runs out vents on the aft side as well. I've always focused in on the upper pee exit and never noticed these other locations before.
Other than the cooling water exit on the lower cowling down by the lower pivot there is water coming out while on muffs on the lower unit. Looks like a 5/16 diameter hole. Is this suppose to be...
Today due to weather didn't get very far on this project but did recheck the bottom carb I had to replace the float on. After setting the float before I got my book copied the mid carb but inside of...
Thanks Phil, well it runs allot better and does't die at idle now. Now I just need to replace the fuel hoses on motor and put it in the water to make the final adjustments. Not going to remove the...
I got my service manual and found out what I was doing wrong with the idle timing screw. I was turning it the wrong direction. It's weird but you would think to go to the left on the flywheel you...
Make sure you get the right kit or you'll be wasting time going back and forth to the marine store. Know your serial number and other info when going online for part searching.
Thanks Strafordengineer, I read one of your answers to another simular issue on bad running merc and when I get my service manual I can systematically go through this headache. Messing with theses...
