i ended up finding it. someone before me had zip tied the above the aluminum bracing on the console. You couldn't see them and they were stiff as a board until I started cutting zip ties.

doing my 100 hour service and when I removed the middle starboard plug wire oil came out of where the plug wire fits into the back of the engine. any ideas?
