The taper on a merc vs. yami shaft is actually slightly different so I would get the correct merc thrust washer.
Try setting the tps to almost 1.0 and also check to see if your throttle cam roller is properly running up and down on the throttle cam giving you full throttle opening. I have found the cam (only...
It's your outer water head gasket leaking which I have seen happen before. Put on new gaskets and add a very slight amount of gasket sealant, re-torque to specs, let sit a day and you'll be good to...
Compression should be approx 130-135 across the board.
hummm....I actually have one in a 30 pitch but still have not tried it. Guess I should give it a spin soon !
The best Chopper style to run on a bass boat is a HOSS.
Blades are parobolic for hard hole shot, tips are wider with tight cupping to hold boat easily on the pad and hold at high engine high for...
First time seeing this ...my guess is this will be a winner !
What is the blade measurement please? 14.5 dia? or 14.75?
The salt water drops 2 cylinders for better slow speeds and fuel economy below about 1000 rpm is about it.
If you want best speed with heavy load and have excellent bow lift in a 3 blade, try a prop w/longer ears and high rake like a T1. As long as you run a standard shaft it will fit. JMO
You are not doing bad as is. You might just want to send your prop in to 'Mark' for B&B and sharpening for best monies spent.
Call on phone and talk with him.....Good luck
Thanks all....I finally got my question answered !
The Phase 3 additions will add from 4-6 mph depending on how well your set-up can optimize the added power. It will also greatly help handling.
Happy Birthday Mike !....:beers:
I am hoping Wayne will chine in at some point.
Thanks for the input so far guys !
Hydro Tec question.....I'm trying to get the last few RPM's and HP so now I have heard different opinions from various Yamaha knowledgeable folk and so I am putting this out there for a final answer...
T1 Will work on a 15 spline merc shaft. Yami's use different washers so check that your washer will work first.
T1's are fast with the most bow lift, handle excellent. They are longer blade 15-1/8...
If you want the absolute best performance, take which ever prop runs you the best closest to the limiter and then send it to Mark Croxton. His B&B and extra tip cup is good for a few extra MPH. JMO

Have a friend that did the reflash to the SHO for 300 but he sounds disappointed. It raised the limiter but he seemed to see no difference in performance so far.
I also heard if you drain the VST gas, out the lower drain plug, then shoot carb cleaner in that hole it can temporarily clean any deposits off the filter.
That motor is setup to run on a much lighter boat for sure. The cheapest thing to do is just change out the 1.62 gears for 1.75 with a standard shaft and then throw a Yami T1 27 B&B with extra tip...
I ran both of these style props and the T1 B&B with extra tip cupping done my Mark Croxton had more overall lift and bow lift and was the faster of the two.
Once you run a worked prop it's hard to...
Heavier boats I know of have lost up to 2 mph trying to run a 1.62 v 1.75 w/coned lowers. I would go with 1.75 unless you have a very light boat capable of over 90 mph. LMO
I have a friend with the same motor and very similar problem just recently after 'he' had changed his VST filter himself. After he took it apart again and his mechanic looked at it all it was...
Thanks for straightening that out Mark ! I just had my local propman look it over and he suspects the repair might have been something near the tips like taking some tip area off when he compared my...
