I have a 488 and could barely fit a 7'2" in before I cut the rod box. How in the heck are you fitting almost an 8' rod in a shorter boat?
Thanks Carlos, that is a huge compliment since I have seen pictures of your rig :thumb up2:
I knew it...
As wierd as this sounds I am getting kind of sad knowing I am getting close to being done with this Ranger and already looking for my next project :roll:I have really enjoyed doing this carpet install
Casinosupply.com was where I got the padding. I over ordered on padding and the birdsong adhesive though, lol lol. Better to have more than not enough I guess.
now that is SWEET :thumb up2:
It makes me wonder why anybody would sell that ugly color
None of the padding is cut at the edge. at the very least I left a 1" gap around each lid. Where the hinge is I left about 1 1/2" on the lid and didnt put any padding on the deck by the hinge. You...
I would love to buddy but this is whats taking up my time now...One day Ill be able to fish again lol. Right now I am redoing the dash on the old girl and cleaning up some useless gauges and adding...
I dont think that compartment will be 100% waterproof but there is a drain in that part of the floor and I always open all of my lids when home from a fishing day. Once I get done with everything...
Nothing escapes you brother from another mother
Yes I did the entire deck. I am sure that some will say it wont hold up because of flex between padding and carpet and the forces of the Universe conspiring but I will enjoy it while its down for...
If by vertical fiberglass you are talking about the rod box that I cut the end out of then that would be a no. It didnt go to the floor or secure anything, it was just a box that was floating on 3...

That duct tape in the picture was just to hold those PVC tubes untill they cooled and held form. I used a heat gun to get the bends correct then taped them till they cooled. The duct tape really...
it doesnt matter if it does let go because its only purpose was to hold the pipes in place till they cooled and held form. I just left them on instead of removing in that picture as they are not on...
I have been accused of being just a little OCD

Well I dont know if yall remember but I had just finished up with the back deck carpet and padding so I decided to keep momentum going and start on the front deck.
Before:...
I had a little problem with that also though. I couldnt get any rods on the front deck longer than 6'9" so I had to do some engineering up top too

should have wet sanded and buffed that area before putting them gorgeous decals on. Wish I would have found those before I had to do mine myself.

The one thing that everyone has always said about these VS models is that the rod boxes are too small to hold anything much over 7' fishing poles. I did an extensive search on BBC for pictures to...
Those are the original wind shields that came from Ranger on the 1996 488VS. I did wrap them with 3M Carbon and what a pain that was. I didnt realize how many curves those old windshields actually...
