When the internal components broke/failed , it was pretty severe.
The air cleaner cover is held down with wing nuts, and the nuts and cover vibrated off and lay in the grass.

I checked to see if pistons are moving by removing the plugs, stuck a socket extension in the spark plug hole
turned the flywheel with ratchet.

Pulled valve covers to check valve lash.
Piston travel was good and valve lash is good.

Went to the other side , piston is not moving, but valves are operating properly.

If- you have a crawl space, more than likely there is water in it.
Get the water issue resolved- sump pump , French drain, then encapsulate it.
