    I would use Evinrude XD-50. It's a semi syn and is recommened oil for that engine.

    I've blown my lower unit on my 99 Johnson 225 H.O. an dwas wondering about the SEI units, there alot cheaper, but will they hold up? DO you get what you pay for?

    And whatever you do stay away from the red sta-bil. It won't mix with the ethanol. Use the green marine or even Star tron enzyme we've had great luck with both.

    Sorry the R is just an extra designation. you use the two letters excluding the very last one. I learned that from a mechnic thats worked on them since 1968
