Yeah, that's Bill Carson. Those shots are taken running dual band, so he's running both low and mid at the same time. Serious hardware.

I wish you were close to me so you could jump on the boat and see it for yourself. I tested the SM3000 with the Onix and when it worked the returns were very good. Most likely you saw the pictures...
In my experience CHIRP tells you size of the fish easier than DI. If you have 2 fish together on DI, it will sometimes look as 1 big fish. CHIRP will separate those fish and with more experience,...
Of the 3 the Garmin has the least problems day in and day out. The Simrad will give really good returns, then you go 50-60 mph and lose bottom, and you don't get it back all the time. Sometimes it...
fisher12, right now there's not enough information out on the CHIRP12 to know. If the built in module does SI and DI also, it should be a huge jump for HB. I don't know the legal side of that...
Man, I hope the marketing department just has it wrong and the 12 comes with something new. If not, this is going to be really embarrassing. For the longest time people around here have said that...
Garmin really messed with transducer technology and came out with a very good transducer in the GT50-51 series. Physical size, cost, ease of install...all good. And the best part is the Q factor is...
Looking at the specs, it seems the included transducer will work well for most people. I wonder if they are pinging a standard HDSI transducer or actually using a proprietary transducer.
The 175-225 is considered the High spectrum. Most of the testing I did with the SM3000 and the Airmar transducers were the low and high ranges, so I can see why they would go with the high right off...
I asked and the Helix will use the 5PXG box, the new one.
The Helix 9 comes with AutoChart Live preloaded.
Ethernet connection, which lets you use pretty much all accessories (360, I pilot Link, etc.)
Stock maps look about the same as the Core units.
Not...
I think the hybrid is the way to go. Simrad was one of the first that had buttons, touch and the wheel/joystick. Then the Onix came out and Lowrance went to hybrid also. The Garmin has it, you...
I haven't seen a 12 yet, not sure where production is on them. The DI is the same as the core units, which is to say it does not have a dedicated crystal with the HDSI transducer.
The Helix will...
