I had to adjust the hotfoot and cable a few times to get 96-98%. I think idle was .76 or so on Ev diag. I could not get lower. Read somewhere that it should be .48 at idle.
I picked up 6 from Napa. Went thru my old plugs and tossed the ones that are not up to spec. The bad ones had tighter hatch marks on the bottom of plug and the lettering was higher up on the plug. ...
There is small bushings on the linkage itself. You need 4. Replaced mine and it tightened up linkage. $10 each. Part number 0308532 03085320308532

Engine running cold? I had a leaky blow off valve. Only running at 104. They will use more oil when not up to temp. How are the plugs?
Melted hubs. Lots of reading if you search. There is some mods to get more water for cooling hub. Check shaft seals.

Trim tab is broke off. You need one. It has a hole for water to go into the exhaust. If you run without you can melt prop shaft seals.
Sounds like air in your trim/tilt. Try up down all the way...
I had similar problem with my 225. I bought reeds from Chris Carson and it ended up being the reed gaskets leaking. Does it run good full throttle? Mine did.
