Well that would explain why Honda and Yamaha did not bother switching to EFI yet. For my situation, it looks like the center mounted tiller handle will be a benefit.

I am in the market for a 9.9 HP outboard for a 23 ft sailboat for exploring the Florida keys. I will not be sailing, only putting around at hull speed, 6 mph up and down the keys. So I am interested...
Thank you, thats very helpful
I recently bought a 12 ft Sorensen Catamaran with a 1996 Mercury 25hp 2-stroke(OG390451). Weight of boat, motor, gear and 2 people is about 850 lbs. Any guess on how many miles per gallon with this...
You were correct, I let it warmed up and when the thermostat opened a strong stream came out. Thanks for the quick response!!! I am such a worrier....
Thanks. I thought it looked like a thermostat, but did not expect it there. I didn't think the tell tale would be after the thermostat.
Funny enough there are wires routed under the spark plug wires that touch the block. The wires are in good condition, so in my mind this is proof that this outboard never over heated during its life....
Serial 0g390451
Just bought this outboard. The tell tale is weak , just sputters. I pulled off hose at block and it's clear. Picture shows a device that seems to regulate the stream. Could this be...
Thanks
I am thinking about buying a 1996 Mercury 25hp (M) ser# 0G390451. Does this outboard generally have a good or bad reputation? What is the block size, cc, and does it share block size with any other...
I don't know enough about bass boat props to recommend. I just knew that when my Mercury dealer repowered my boat he had to have a prop close enough to finish the final paper work. At least thats...
Part of the final inspection of authorizing the warranty of a mercury is making sure a prop is on the boat that will allow it to reach an ideal RPM. Over propping, which you are at, is not good...
don't care about the data... all that matters is that the new platform is so much sexier looking!!!:wink:
V6 200HP 4-stroke (2B686288)
For what ever reason my Mercury rigging dealer used Mercury 25W-40 oil when the motor was rigged. I see in my manual that 25w-40 is acceptable but 10w-30 is the first...
I am following the storage procedure exactly as stated in the manual for my new 200 V6 Fourstroke (2B686288). I will be spraying Mercury's Storage Seal Rust Inhibitor (92-858081K03) into the spark...
Are the XS cowling's lighter than the standard fourstoke? I have a standard V6 200 and I must admit the cowling seems heavy.
When you say "175 ProXS" are you referring to the new V6 fourstroke, if so, I doubt they are readily available?
Fantastic on both accounts
To my surprise, my 200HP V6 has a water pickup in the torpedo.
The 4.6l v8 will have more torque due to larger displacement over the 3.4 l v6. It's up to you if you think you need it. I have to imagine it was a challenge detuning a big 4.6l v8 to only make...
It is the exhaust boot clamp. Thanks. Now I got to see if I can get a wrench to it without removing the lower cowling.
V6 200 Fourstroke Serial # 2B686288
I was checking to see if my fuel/water seperator filter was leaking after replacing it and saw water leaking down the exhaust. I could not see where it was...
I certainly found water in the seperator, probably almost half water. It is interesting to me that Mercury trusts this small filter compared to Yamaha's recommended on boat filter which has a huge...
V6 200 Fourstroke Serial # 2B686288
I just got my new V6 200 rigged on my custom 2017 tritoon, and 10 minutes in I get the water in fuel alarm. Previously I had a Yamaha on boat water seperator,...
Thanks for confirming what my local dealer discovered!
I am looking into moving the mercmonitor gauge close to where the mercmonitor harness can be. It is indeed an odd setup, I realize that, and...
