@EuropeanAM...I believe the brown with white stripe sender is connected on the 8 pin adaptor to that 14pin harness. there's always one just hanging inside as the picture indicates. I have plugged it...

Yes I had to buy a 14 to 8pin in order to use the the optimax. The 8 pin that's on the boat was for the 2005 150hp carbureted...
And the 14pin adapter made it possible for the 2006 175hp optimax.
