If you trolling motor batteries need charged throughout the day then you need ones with more capacity.
Why do you need to charge your trolling motor batteries on the fly?
Not really, it's as simple as it gets, 3 batteries for the trolling motor, one for everything else and one set of leads from the charger hooked to each battery.
Why do people have to complicate batteries and chargers so much? I keep it very simple 4 batteries 4 bank charger one bank hooked to each battery, outboard only charges the cranking battery which has...

Pretty rough in a Ranger as well.
Most I have seen are right hand trim.
Really, what year was it? I could put 6.5' rods in it but it was tight with maybe 2" of room behind it.
Has a FICHT on it though, I would plan on getting a new motor If I got that one.
Both are fine boats, the main deciding factor for me would be the engine, I would get one with a Yamaha SHO instead of a Merc.
Ok, but did that motor have the standard or Torque master lower unit?
Is it hubbed for the 1.25" shaft or the 1"?
Have you checked the charging system? May have a blown fuse, even if the batter was that low it should go up over 13 volts when running.
The guy who wears the suit must be as elusive as the Sasquatch himself since you don't see many 8-10 foot tall people.
I wasn't critiquing anyone just stating facts. An aluminum hull boat runs different and has different motor height requirements than a glass hull. I have had both.
Your boat is far different from his. Aluminum vs fiberglass, and completely different hull shape.
It's an excellent motor, haven't heard of many issues at all. As long as it was flushed correctly after being run in salt water it should be fine. Probably due for a water pump, spark plugs and fuel...
Agree 100% the Ranger 300 series were great for their time but the 400 series is a huge upgrade, and more modern. Couldn't put rods longer than 6.5' in the Ranger 361v, but the 461 will fit 7.5' rods...
23P Tempest is what I would try for a 3 blade. For that boat a 23-24P Bravo 4 blade might be better.
I have been fishing for 20 years and I don't think I have ever spent more than $200 on a rod and reel combo. The Pro Qualifier reels do good for me.
Better quality control, faster and you can get over 300hp out of it with just a tune.
Was it ever effective? I don't know anyone who ran one.
They are nice boats for sure I highly recommend getting one with a Yamaha SHO on it instead of a Mercury.
