Improve down scan. LSS1 from 2009 still gives the best images.
Fish wise …3D will show you side and down images of what you have motored past whereas AT will show you front & down real time images of what is currently happening under and in front of the boat.
...
I prefer AI 3 in 1 on Gen 3 & Carbon heads to 3D for both downscan & sidescan up to about 80 feet out in the shallow water I mostly fish. I’ve found Downscan is significantly better with AI. I also...
gman. What sort of distance are you talking about?
Definitely follow the advice on software updates and settings given above which ought to improve matters. My personal experience with downscan
however is that it’s pretty much been left behind...
For what you’re using it for I’d say what you’ve got (+ the upgrade to Gen3-9) is fine. If your main use is down scan the image quality of the LSS-1 transducer has never been bettered by Lowrance so...
There’s always the possibility that the transducer is level when the boat’s out of the water but the weight distribution is altered to put it on an angle when you get aboard & cruise off?
Fine on mine also.
What of depths are you using it in Marc?
The most recent update for Carbon & Live (20.1) is supposed to have “greatly improved down scan imagery over previous software versions in all frequencies & for all transducers”. From what I’ve seen...
Its the transducer that’ll improve the side imaging....range and quality.
Both the 3D on a 12 inch Gen 3 & 3 in 1 Active imaging on a 12” Carbon gives me greatly improved side views over LSS1, LSS2...
Having used LSS1 and 3D on Gen3, LSS1, 3D and 3 in 1 on a Carbon, plus following any relevant threads on this board over the past 10 years, what is apparent is that the LSS1 transducer (and LSS2)...
“Monopoly” in action. Massive price hike and the ability to make demands on Lowrance regarding updates. The fact that there’s only one authorised dealer for all of Russia is strange. Maybe the dealer...
Out on the water today. Kept the settings from my last post + hard reset.....fish reveal back!!
Hi, thanks for the suggestions.
Sonar...”Internal setting” is “on”. (“Network” is “off”) & (“network source” is on “single source”)
Sonar installations ... Channel 2 is set to 3 in 1 transducer....
I’m thinking that the AI 3 IN 1 transducer that came with my Carbon unit is faulty but just wanted to see if there’s something I’m missing.
When I’m running the unit and select “Fish Reveal” I don’t...
My Gen3 12 with an earlier version than 7.0 worked well with SS3D and also after I down loaded 18.2 to it (skipped V 7.0) so I don’t see why you should have a problem with 7.0
I have read that for...
I’ll try it next week. Running SS3D and AI 3 in 1 transducers separately on a Gen 3 and Carbon units respectively I haven’t managed to get images from both transducers on one (split) screen...
Could the images from the different transducers be viewed on a split screen of one unit at the same time or would it only be possible on two networked screens?
Great information.
What head unit(s) do you have?
Carbon is better with SS3D but also with the LSS2.
The added bonus of Carbon is that you could also opt for the new AI transducer (not compatible with Gen 3 units) which is either 2 in 1 (DI & SI)...
DI No
SI Yes, but especially for greater clarity at range.
A downside for some used to LSS1 & LSS2 is is that the images produced by SS3D are compressed so for example with modest changes in...
Might be bad news then, but beyond my knowledge. Best put in a call to Lowrance.
Did you have a fuse on the red live wire? In the distant past I wrongly connected the wires at the power source on an HDS Gen 1 & it wouldn’t operate...just a case of replacing the blown fuse on the...
