I can be sitting almost still and see the bottom make a wave then it settles down and gets flat. Usually happens around 60-70 feet out. Perhaps at only 12' deep setting distance to 70' is too far?

No wind, in 12ish foot deep, flat bottom. Graphs shows bottom looking like waves flowing.
