I use a 20# braid main line with a 8# Invisx Leader tied with an Albright knot.

I've had a Keel Guard on mine for many years and it has held up very well.
Just to update since mine was fixed under warranty two years ago the problem seems to be corrected. Just as quiet as new

It could possibly be a bad coil. I had one go bad that would cause a surge at higher rpms. Check the resistance of each one per the service manual if you have one. Not a very common issue.

You may have seen my post a couple of weeks ago where my 2000 OX66 225 took a poop. I rebuilt this motor 5 years ago and from the responses and talking with Hydrotec there were some bad castings...

I am going to call Hydro Tec tomorrow and see if they have a block available and what my best options are. Rich Z, I will be sending you my injectors if I decided to revive this motor.
I took them off mine although Mr Jones advises not to because the bottom plate is a heat sink and needs to breath. I thought about cutting holes in the bottom of my tray to get let it breath but...

I know exact what you mean, I can't justify putting a brand new motor on this boat but I've always wanted a 250 on it. A used motor kind of scares me too.
