I also used Chris Carson Reeds. I really like them. Idle is much better, holeshot is smooth and powerful. All Good!

Great to know. I'll take it apart and clean the grease.
I’m one of the posters to the wrong forum. I was thinking the same. I knew mine wasn’t a High Performance motor and this forum said “stock”
sorry won’t happen again
Don, everywhere I read online that had issues with overcharging said they put a bunch of Heat sink grease on it and it fixed it. Does the new parts not need grease?
Joe, I agree about them not being defective. But I ran the old ones all last year and never had one charging issue. I replace the regulators only because of burnt looking connectors and now I have a...
Yes, Oem Merc with fusible link attached. Latest and greatest version. I checked all red leads and battery. Even tried another battery. Re-did each ground seperately instead of together like they...
1996 Mercury 150 EFI OG374303
While trying to diagnose a non-working tach, I found discolored and burnt connectors at both voltage regulators. Tach ended up just being a bad tach. Replaced and...
I just put some Chris Carson Reeds in my 150 EFI. Carbon fiber is the way to go. I don't know anything about TDR's but Chris Carsons are good, plus he answers the phone and tells you exactly what you...
Trying to locate Chris Bailey CB Marine. For some reason I cannot find him on here. I am wanting a foil done by him. Thanks for the help.
And I'm buying it from Tim "Fastbass Marine" Powell. I know he knows and sells quality. I know it's the best. I wish I had the money for Hydraulic, but don't have to have it right now.
I'm going with the Hydrodynamics Rapid Jack Magnum and 6". I figured this is an old boat, don't want to stress the already extended set back built into the boat and most guys are running mid 60's...
Curious if anybody here actually had or has a 461 with a 12” jackplate? If so, how does it do and would you go back to a smaller one?
Thanks
Youre right on the Fury. My last boat(not a Ranger) I ran a 26 Fury and for a back up I ran the 27 Tempest which was the closest to the 26 Fury. So, I knew the 23 Tempest would run on the Ranger, but...
Everything I read online seems to lean towards a 23 Tempest. I saw a few run a 24 fury. If I can find a Tempest, I'll start there. Thanks
Just bought a used Ranger 461VS with a Merc 150 EFI. It has a 23 Trophy Plus which looks like someone drilled holes in it. The blades are in bad shape and I have not even run this boat. I just need...
I think you can. I'm not going that far yet. Just doing some bolt on mods and seeing what it will do.
Good info, thanks!
Well, I’ll do the exhaust tuner, reeds, and solid mounts while I got the powerhead pulled. I’m not messing with heads just yet because of running high octane fuel. But if the motor blows, doing some...
I believe close to 200 is doable. I mean they had a 2.5 200 and this is also a 2.5
i heard using a 200 exhaust tuner and better reeds should give is 10-15 hp more. But not sure what else to do.
Don’t have the boat or engine yet, but I’m buying a 1996 Ranger 461 and it has a 150 EFI. I’d like to begin trying to add some horsepower. Maybe get it to the 175 or 200.
What’s everyone’s...
What year was your other 721. Pre 14 or 15 had a different lower unit and were also a bit more horsepower. Mercury lowered the HP on the newer ones to be a more true 250
I know, I didn't like the carpet in mine either.
You think? LOL!
It looks ok, but what's the purpose? You pay extra because you are a Chevy fan???? I don't get it.
