i think i figured it out, went into bps today and played with theirs for a while, it seems the garmin units do have see-thru overlay but only on the sonar screens not on the charts like i was trying...

I will try the default setting and see if that works MonteSS, deepanchor i know the overlay can be removed completely but its a pain in the ass having to bring it back up everytime i want to check...
