If you’re asking if the cals are identical I don’t think it’s easily answered. But are you asking if they are calibrated for the same power and torque?
My 400r does this after storing it trimmed under. Oil sits on the rings and leaks past into the cylinders over time. It doesn’t do it if I store it trimmed horizontal or slightly above.

It's not too large if you run it high, like it's designed to be.
The 300r I know of is running a 34" max5 prop going 103 on a 21' liberator. I think it's a little tall because he is only turning 6150.
The only thing I've heard is they may be coming out with a 1.62 geared version of the HD SM. What's your complaint about the 1.75 HD SM that it comes with?
I don't think you can get the old 3.0 sm on the 300r, but I do believe you get a faster more reliable package with the HD SM
