Only dealings I've had with one was a guy trying to unload on a steep ramp and it wouldn't release.
Had to pull it up on flat ground.

Try the Dodd knot.
I went through the same issues you describe and tried several with mixed results. Some of them were my inconsistencies with the harder knots.
This knot works and is not as hard...

The Stoltz brand is not black and supposed to not mark as bad.

For sure-- and now that I no longer am forced to fish out of a 350V Ranger with a 150 Merc I am much happier and drier with no worries if I can make it back to the boat ramp in a storm.:cool:

Some of us like the comfort and drier ride the addition of 3 to 4 ft of boat length adds.
Especially when all your lakes are big and wide open and the wind never stops except in July and August.

How does it compare to the Steez?
Love my Steez reels and figured to stick with them but always open to something better.
