    Products | North Fork Composites

Anglers Workshop is no longer showing them all of a sudden, interesting... Mudhole never did.

Bingham Enterprises may be all that's left as a dealer.

Seems like they are pushing the "Edge" rods more

I read a few grumblings over on rodbuilder a few weeks ago that all may not be well at NFC. Rumors are rumors so who knows??

Angler's and Bingham are the only dealers of NFC blanks. Mudhole was dropped as a dealer over a year ago.

Yes you can find a few blanks over at anglers choice site but they are no longer listed in the shop by brands and you have to hunt to find them. Used to be front and center.

I bought mine through Bingham Enterprises....not impressed with the price point on the blanks. Too much money for the market. Blackhaze if you would like to see it just let me know. Its for sale I just don't use it since I have my Phenix rods now.

Have you tried any Hydra blanks? I would put them on the same level as the NFCs, if not better...and they are cheaper.

I haven't tried Hydra yet. I spoke with Alex at the ICRBE last weekend and he's gonna send me a dropshot blank once they get more rolled. He offered me a MB703 or 704? but I declined as I don't typically use rods that heavy.

Not a rod builder but I think Kistler is selling the NFC blanks or the ones they use for the Z-bone rods.

Yes go to angler's workshop, and if you're looking for blank weight, measurements, specs, etc... click on the product description tab in the center of the bottom area of the page I opened it see if it shoes up Spin Jig Blanks | Leaders in Rod Building, Fly Tying, Fishing Rods, Reels, Fly Tying, and Fishing Rods

those are just the spin jig IM you can find almost all their bass stuff on there

IMO Hydra blanks are not of the same quality as NFC...no one is right now, they're running away with it. The only company who makes comparable stuff is CTS but their stuff is so hard to procure in the states and their warranty and service is very questionable.

Mr Moore - This is Alex, the owner of Hydra, manufacturer of Hydra Rod blanks. We had contact in 2011 regarding a rod build and I know you have been referred to us by other builders on a few occasions now. Good to see you again.

Your comment regarding "quality" interests me given your promotion of various blanks on rodbuilding boards.

If you don't mind me asking, which Hydra blanks have you built/had built and fished with and what criteria do you use to compare various blank models between manufacturers? Are you equating quality to performance?

We take comments like yours seriously and use it for continuous product improvement. Please feel free to respond here or directly to me.

If NFC is running away with it now, why the inquiries of Lamiglas and Batson blanks on RBO? Looking to build a better mouse trap?

As for CTS, They're not all that either. Much better technology in the USA. Look at St. Croix with their new tooling and laser cut flags, and they're easily acquired. No need to wait months and months only to be disappointed by your blank not arriving from New Zealand when promised.

Alex, Looking forward to that dropshot blank. I'll also be contacting you for a set of Kigan Ti guides for it.

On my "feel" rods, I'd take Hyrda blanks over St. Croix's top offerings. I haven't built on an NFC blank, but my guess is it's a great blank with an inflated price tag to go along with it. I can't justify paying the price of NFC when there are other comparable offerings (though not many) that meet that standard at a cheaper price. NFC is one of the top blank manufactures, but in no way are they running away with it. I've never built on a CTS blank, so I can't comment on those blanks.

My personal rods, I like my "feel" rods to be Batson RX8 because they have great performance for a great price. Now that the Hydra NG blanks are in full swing, I'm starting to add them slowly (because of funds) to my personal collection.

I would guess NFC is great blank. I haven't bought them for the same reason i never bought a GLoomis - not willing to pay 2x the value of something because of the label that is on it. NFC strikes me as a good company and i have no doubts they offer a quality product - but for 2x the price, i better see 2x the performance, half the weight - some value prop that justifies that cost.

Looking to build an inexpensive but nice blank for my girlfriend...she fishes like 5 times a year with me.
Sounds like you're not much of a fan of NFC...sorry to hear that, everyone has an opinion.

And as far as your remarks on CTS that's what I was referring to, and they say lifetime warranty but I've heard it isn't always honored. But I've fished them and they are no doubt top notch.

But hey nothing like a massive over-reaction, and quite frankly a flat out rude post...hopefully your customers are treated better ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. CTRL+F5 reloads the whole page.

And to Alex with Hydra rods...sorry I didn't mean any offense and should probably have worded that differently.
Send me a PM or email on Rodbuilding.org, and maybe I'll use one of your blanks for her build rather than a Batson. No offense intended my bad.

I haven't tried a Batson Rx8, but heard great things for the price point.
BTW NFC Next IM graphite rods are no more expensive than St Croix SC IV, and I've found them to be on par with GLX, and more sensitive than SC V material as well.

Just throwing that out, as I keep reading that NFC is wildly overpriced...it is priced no higher than St. Croix, now the HM material is high dollar, but damn is it sensitive. I have 4 IM's but only one HM.
