    First BFL of 2014

Tomorrow morning is our first BFL for the Savannah River Division. Still waiting on new boat, so fishing as a Co-angler tomorrow. Good news is, I drew a Ranger Owner! Can't go wrong there! Looking forward to my new Ranger. Lake Keowee is usually good this time of year. Should be some big spots caught. Hopefully, I will be able to report some good news tomorrow.

I finished up in 24th place. That was the last paying spot. We only had 125 boats. I did get to fish out of a 188 which is basically the same hull as my Z518c I have ordered. Man, want to talk about firing me up about my new boat! That 188 fished great!

I have a 198 and I really do like the boat. I have never fished a draw tourney as a boater. I have fished some Opens as a co. I am kicking the idea around of fishing the SC BFL division. How long have u fished BFL? I have confidence I can catch some fish but do not feel I am in the same league as the guys that have done it for a long time . I would try it as a co but afraid I'll draw a guy that wants to run 90 mph every where he goes.

I have fished 4 BFLs so far. I have had good experiences to date. Cashed 3 checks in 4 tournaments. Last year, I placed 2nd in the May Hartwell tournament. I drew one guy (really nice guy) last year that had a broke down 18' & borrowed a TR 21 and didn't have any idea how to drive it. That was a little scary. My plan was to fish as a co until my new boat came in sometime first of March, but I'm thinking now I may finish this season as a co to try and make the regional. You should try it, it's a well run tournament.

I'm fishing my first BFL in 9 years this year. I fished BFL Lacrosse event back in 05 as a high school senior on the coangler side and blanked and its bugged me ever since. After that I was busy with College and Racing and Working that I never got a chance to take another shot at it. So i took the step back from racing this year and am registering for the september event in Lacrosse as a co to go back and try to redeem myself finally. Checking the rules and I find that my boat qualifies for the BFL rules so if I can get confident enough this year with it I may sign up for a couple in 2015 as a boater.

FLW runs great tournaments. I recommend them to anyone. As far as competeing against the guys that have done it for a while just remember they are fishing the same conditions and do not fish much different from the next guy. I'm fishing the BFL Cowboy division. I can't wait it has been a while. Hopefully I canmake the regional on Pickwick.
