    Best Plug knocker

    Hey Guys,

Just starting to try to get more into cranking and I found myself getting snagged on a lot of submerged wood in about 10 foot of water. I have the standard plug knocker I got from Bass pro with the rings and chains but was only about to save about 1 in 3 crankbaits.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what the best plug knocker out there is? Also any tips on the best technique to use?

    Thanks!

Send stratos284 a message. I sent him a message a couple of weeks ago to inquire if he had any for one of my buddies and he responded that he didn't have any in stock but may have some in a few weeks.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

All these recommendations for rope based plug knockers? It must be just me but those just drive me nuts (and they take too much time in tournaments). I prefer the pole based ones (avoid thin telescopic ones - the thicker part telescopic/part sectioned ones are the best), much quicker and more precise. I can literally knock something off in a couple of seconds once I am directly over the snag, and no rope to unwind, wind and/or untangle afterwards.

If you guys prefer sliding something down, try this tip. I get a 1 ounce bell sinker with that wire line tie eye (I think people use them for catfish rigging), clip a wire interlock snap on the eye. If you get a snag, just snap this on to your line and let it slide down. Jiggle it once it gets to your lure and it should pop it free. If it doesn't work, you've only lost about 50 in a cheap sinker and wire snap. If someone doesn't understand my description, let me know, I can take a picture - its pretty simple.

I use the 44Mag. I have had trouble with the fritts knocker damaging my line, the loop the line goes in is too tight. 44Mag works much better. The first thing I do is drop a 3 or 4oz weight with a snap clip attached to the line down on the lure, and work the rod/line up and down. if this fails, I get out the plug knocker.
