2012 Yamaha Sho 200hp ??
I know there were problems with the older Sho's but what about the 2012 200hp? I'm looking at one for sale here locally and was needing some input before making a decision. Any known problems with this make and model? The engine has very few hours on it and well taken care of. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

Dont think the block on the 2012s are the same as the 2010 and early 2011 blocks. But i honestly would rather get a used 2010 or 2011 motor as chances are the power head will be under warranty until 2019 or until its swap for a new updated block.

I have an early 2012 200 sho with 378 hours. The only problem was the cap unscrewing off the tilt ram and leaking fluid out. I got a new o-ring from the dealer then changed it myself.

Went and looked at the boat and the Manufacturers sticker on the motor said 12/10. So I'm assuming I should stay away from this boat. It was registered in 2012, that's why he thought the motor was a 2012.

I wouldnt be scared of it.. You can swap for a brand new powerhead anytime up until 2019.. So look at it as if you have warranty on it until 12/31/2018

Mine is a 11 of 10. I wouldn't be scared at all. Great motor and pulls great. Mine has the powerhead swap to a 2015 and it's basically a brand new motor. Don't hesitate because of that

The PID # is 6CDL1000687, can anyone help me with info on the history of this engine?

Call yamaha marines customer service number and give them that info. Say you plan on purchasing a boat with that motor and serial but heard of a potential problem with premature wearing to the powerhead and want to be sure that block isnt affected, and if it is, they will offer you a free powerhead replacement done anytime before 2019.

Thanks for the info. Will this new power head come with a new warranty?

I think it depends if theres still warranty left on the motor. If there is then they will extend it a year. If not, dont swap powerhead until 12/2018 or until its blown.
