Great tip Russ! Looks like they would be pretty snag free, too. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
Little reminder, structure is the lake bottom, ditches, river bends, humps. Little spiders would be cover on structure. Great idea, wife must not mind spiders at your house......Gerry http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
Russ - What do those things weigh?
Man I hate working with quickcrete but they look great.
They look like something off the beaches of Normandy!!

Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
Looks like a good idea, especially if they don't show up on sonar.
What's that white stuff outside and coming into the shed? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
I guess it's inspiration http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Fish Structure (catchatoad)
Terry, they are probably no more than 25 to 30 pounds each. You can carry them by one of the pipes easily.
Gerry - once they hit the bottom they should be structure. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif But you are right - they should be called "Cover". http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif Thanks!

Wonder if the sea bass liked them? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif I'd like to see the look on the FedEx guys face when he showed up to pick them up for delivery. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
They look great. Will the fish and boat people give you any hassle for dropping them in the lake?
Re: Fish Structure (jrnitro)
I'm putting them in a private lake and they have been approved. The State of Mississippi does something similar and that's where I got the idea. I don't see why anyone would care - they are no different than dropping a cinder block in the lake they just happen to have some irrigation pipe concreted in it. There is nothing that would be toxic, but you would have to check and see. I think they allow the PVC fish cover people build, but these are better in my opinion and MUCH cheaper to make.
Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
Note to self......SELF, fish next to the black pole, structure located there! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Re: Fish Structure (rudapa)
Did you drill holes into the plastic pipe for water entry/flow? I'd think that they would just stand up straight (float) with the air in them.
Re: Fish Structure (bassinova)
No, but the extra buoyancy will be a plus I believe. I'd actually like the pipe to be more flexible than it is.
