ICON Digital single and dual controls - Safety Recall Campaign

BRP is conducting a voluntary safety recall on ICON binnacle mount remote controls.

Bulletin No. 2013-02(W)


What is the potential problem?

A limited number of ICON binnacle mount remote control levers may be incorrectly assembled and pull away from the remote control resulting in loss of throttle and shift control.

This situation may cause loss of boat control which could lead to serious injuries or
even death of the operator, passengers, or people nearby.


What will BRP do?

For dealers and boatbuilders:
BRP is publishing a Safety Campaign Bulletin giving the service procedure.

For customers:
BRP is sending a Safety Recall letter to all known registered owners of a
factory-built ICON engine only. This letter urges them to contact their authorized dealer to schedule a service appointment. The solution is an inspection and if necessary replacement of the control.


NOTE:
If a control has friction screws which are marked with permanent black paint, inspection is not required.

If loose controls or packaged controls which are in

inventory are marked with a green dot, inspection is not required.




DEALER RESPONSIBILITY:

Contact all of your customers who have purchased or operate an ICON binnacle mount remote control and schedule service appointments.

Inspect all ICON binnacle mount remote controls. If a control does not pass inspection, REPLACE.

Affected controls in your inventory must be inspected or replaced before delivering to customers.

ONLY authorized servicing dealers may perform this inspection or replacement.
