115 Opti Pro XS WOT RPM
I’m debating making the move to SS. Looking at max rpm it appears 5000 to 5750. Loaded 14 RT188 115 Pro XS 2 stroke, 12-75x21P Black Diamond I was able to achieve 44.7 mph gps @ 5300 (Vessel View) on fairly calm water in 55/60 degree ambient temp. No water pressure available, no JP, 2 hole down.
I’m in the middle of that “tolerance” I guess you call it. Why the 750 rpm disparity? Is there a sweet spot in that zone to shoot for without jeopardizing reliability. It’s my understanding these motors will let you know when you’ve reached maximum safe rpm?

I don't have an answer, but I'm running a 19 pitch Michigan Apollo and am turning 5600 rpm and running 45mph. With some good tail wind on calm waters can almost touch 46mph. I have the same motor but a 2017 hull if that maters.

19p was hard to find and outta stock from merc. I picked up a laser 2 20p and jumped rpm up to 54 and change in the heat and can hit 45 consistently loaded. Hole shot is awesome, but rattle/vibration at idle going to SS takes some getting used to.
