I dont know of a ProMax specific prop guy.... But Mark is the go to guy for most everybody I know locally and on BBC.
I just sold a Promax and it got sent to a shop in Longview Tx
I use billy eaves in soddy daisy tn. Great guy that really knows his stuff. But a lot of people here use mark and seem to be really happy as well.
Mark told me a few Months ago there wasn't much he could do with a Promax!
Matt in Longview TX is as good as they come. He does my prop work and most of the guys
in this area.
Bought my promax from Matt in Longview, had him tweak it before it left his shop.
Who is this matt in longview you guys speak of, the Google is not showing me much
I'd like to hear the gains others are getting from working a promax...
I am the one that bought the prop from bullet 250. I have had a 28 promax prior and currently run a 30 everyday. I also have a 32 I haven’t ran yet.
I really like the 28 except it hit the limiter wayyyy to fast. The 30 is good except holeshot is a touch slow for sandbar racing.
I sent the 28 to be re pitched to a 29. Matt confirmed he will bend the pitch in and not adjust primarily via cup as I don’t want to change the lift characteristics. He is also used by many in the circle of people I know.
Mercury only casts the promax in even pitch increments and then cup is removed, to create odd pitches (confirmed via mercury racing) so buying a 29 would have been a step in the wrong direction holeshot wise.
My only avenue to get what I desired was to buy a 28 and do what I am doing.
I have aptly names this creation the “28.8” and should have it in about 10 days to test
Matt does great work!
I been using Kawartha propellers for the last few and they do good work. They are pricey but with the Canadian dollar right now it would be cheap for a American to get a prop worked.
I got a performer ET and BC worked by them and they are really fast props.
I attempted to reach Matt in longview today, left a msg at around 10:00 he never called me back.
call him about 9:am again tomorrow / best I ever used/never seen a prop he couldn't improve including promax
For what its worth, I just had Billy Eaves work my 28 PM prop. Stock form, brand new, it would bog out of the hole and take forever to get on plane, that's with 4 stock PVS holes. MId range was stupid fast though and set ya back in seat. Sent it to Billy and he added a flare ring (not like some I've seen though) a bit more like a Hydromotive XOB just not as long. He also added 4 more PVS holes and sharpened the blades. He did nothing to the rest of the blades except a balancing.
It now rockets out of the hole with a flat bow, no surging, no bogging just flat out blasting off. I was shocked to say the least. It'snow my favorite prop.
Down side is he had it for months!!
