I love the pellet grill! much easier and you just set the temp and you're done.
So far, so good on my Louisiana Pellet Grill. No more propane refills, and lifting those heavy azzed tanks.
I've used my propane grill maybe 5 times since getting a pellet grill 11 months ago and I grill at least once a week.
I can’t stop cooking on my pellet grill! Food is so much better
A guy I was talking to the other day said they dont get hot enough to sear a steak, is that true? I found that hard to believe
We had our RecTec built in an island. Love it. We use it for everything.

We have a matching island for eating at too.

They make searing grates. My RecTec will easily get to 500*. I'll link a YouTube video later. But just look up searing steak RecTec.
Available on Amazon too.......but these are GRATE!!! pun intended. They come with the large fork tool. It is awesome. I use the large fork tool for lots of stuff. Its sturdy and can lift a lot of large meats on and off the grill.

I watched a Rec Tec 680 review / performance test. After an hour the grill was at about 470F and not climbing anymore. The outdoor temp was 70F.
Not being negative, I'm just pointing out what one individual unit was able to do. I'm leaning real hard toward buying the RT680 soon.
Louisianna has a sliding cover underneath the cooking rack. Open it to have direct access to the flame for searing (and it CRANKS), and slide it shut for normal grilling.
I can sear at any temp up to 600. Burgers I cold smoke without heat for an hour (with a smoke tube), then sear at 375 for 5 on each side.
It all depends on the brand of pellets. Some pellets don't burn as hot. Quality pellets are recommended.

I promise you will not be disappointed if you buy a RecTec. Both owners give you their personal cellphone number. Best customer service ever. Really a quality built grill. You can also adjust the feed rate of the pellets.
