Prop suggestion for 721/250SHO at elevation
Also posted in props section but thought the Phoenix group might be able to give me advice from experience on their boat.
Hoping someone can steer me in the right direction on what prop to purchase for optimum speed & performance at this lake. This run was empty and I didnt even think to fill up livewells and see what happened. I do have to chop the throttle a couple two-three times on holeshot to boost rpm’s as soon as it hits 3000 and above it takes off. Looking for suggestions for tournament load with partner and livewells loaded.
Boat: 2015 Phoenix 721
10” Atlas Hyd JP
Dual 10ft 3 stage Talons
4 batteries
1/2 tank of gas. Approx 20 Gallons.
Motor: 2015 Yamaha Vmax SHO 250
Prop: Yamaha Vmax SHO T2 25P
Light load 2 guys 200lbs tackle and live wells empty. Hydraulic jackplate set at 20 (1.5”) p2p at take off and lowered to 14 (3”) for run.
Elevation: Lake Powell Utah/AZ 3500ft.
Boat performance: Air Temp 68*, Water Temp 60*, RPM 5414, GPS Speed 68.2 mph
Was told I should go with a 22pitch Yamaha T2 prop. Seems like rpms would be right and holeshot would definitely be improved but I am worried about losing my top end. Anyone have an approximate difference in top end between a 22p & 23p. Or other prop suggestions.
