I tried the 25 Razor 3 this weekend and determined i need to mount my engine lower on the jackplate. I got 61mph @ 5350 which was like 15% slip at mid jackplate settings but bottomed out i could get 65mph@5350 which is 10% slip. If i increase the height any from the bottom i loose speed and the engine changes sound and you can feel the slip increasing and the nose falling. So i am going to lower my engine to the lowest mounting bolt hole soon and see what happens, its currently in the 3rd hole. What prop shaft heights are you guys running.
I have a hydraulic plate so i can vary mine as im running. Right now all the way at the bottom is 5.625" below pad. And this is where im seeing my best speed with the razor 3. This seems WAY too deep.
Ive never owned a boat that needed to be that deep. But ive always ran allot faster boats.
I am considering remounting my engine to lower bolt holes so i can get the prop deeper and see if i can get more speed/lift.
Are you all running anything close to this deep?
25 Razor 3 65@5350, 5.5" below pad, 10% slip
25 Fury 3 65@5500 4.5" below pad, 12% slip
26 Txp-ot4 67.5@5150 2.5" below pad, 6% slip, seems unlikely slip was actually that low, prop must have been worked by previous owner and is turning like a 27"
All tests were performed back to back with same water and air temps. Approx 45deg air 53deg water.
14" hydraulic jackplate.
1/4-1/2 tank fuel. 25 rods, trolling rod rack in the back, 3 props, anchor, 9 Plano boxes, 12 gal ziplocs of soft plastics in front compartment. Oil tank full, spare gallon of oil, Plus misc other accessories.
The razor 3 performed best hands down except for top end. Followed by ot4, followed by fury.
Holeshot good on all, but is in same order as above.
What pitch is the OT4?

Have you tried a trophy on it?
I had a 24 trophy that I traded for the 25 razor3. The trophy was the worst prop. I could not get over 61 with it.
What about a Tempest?
I ran a tempest worked by croxton before I added the extra jackplate and it was my fastest prop. But I totally it at KY lake. I'll prob have it repaired soon and run it again.
I hit 69.1 by myself and 68.6 with my partner during a tourny with that teampest

I am wondering if the slip factor increases when you go to a longer jackplate?
In theory you can run higher prop shaft heights with longer jackplate with equivalent or less slip because further back the water is cleaner and not as turbulent and the water rises up off the back of the transom so back further the water is higher.
Ran the razor 3 again. I almost feel like I need to go deeper than 5.5"
At 9.5 trim I can hit about 62-63. I trim to 10 and it will go to 64 and start climbing to 65 and then the sound changes the rpms increase and it falls to 61 mph. I think it's still cavitating even at 5.5" below. Maybe I need to move the motor down a couple boot holes like I was originally thinking.
What did that Razor run with the 8 inch jackplate. Or for that matter what speed difference are you getting with props that you have run on both jackplates?
