I added my 2 cents also... Any boat should be allowed on any publicly supported lake in Ohio... I pay my taxes just like everyone else so I should be able to use my boat and run my big engine at idle... Dan

You godda be kiddin ?
Alot of those boats at Cowan and Acton are 15-20 hp anyway . Wont hurt a thing and will actually bring revenue to those surrounding cities due to more people fishing them and more tournys held on them .
Like Dan said we pay tax the same . Speed limit/idle only is the way to go for big motas IMHO
RUMORS ARE CARRIED BY HATERS , SPREAD BY FOOLS , AND ACCEPTED BY IDIOTS !
i would like to see this happen and i think a few more lakes should be added ..... the only bad thing is some dumb sob will miss it up
Then that guy will get a ticket and I'm cool with that. I think it's over a hundred now if you start up your big motor and idle. If this is past and some one goes over idle make it 150 or 200,300 ticket the state will love the revenue .
i would like to know what you guys think of a fee to park at state ramps .... i fish the manastee river in MI and there is a fee to park and for a river ramp it is dam nice and dont mind paying the fee like 12 for a week i think a year is 40. i guess i am just curious what other guys think......
99% of the people would and do respect the limits but,,,,,,I have watched people already use their big motor to idle around and "power load" their boats at Cowan with the big motor and just blow the dirt and mud out from the end of ramps.(Camping area dock had to be rebuilt a few years back because the end collapsed). Like Rod said, I have seen people with 15 and even a 25 on Cowan before. I keep a 16 foot aluminum with a 9.9 for limit lakes. Just my opinion.....if you take away the limit and let idle speed with big motors, Cowan and others will go from nice getaway lakes from the big-go fast crowded lakes to crowded small lakes. Just my opinion.
**Some folks do not have the time to do it right the first time , but always find the time to do it twice.**
I follow your logic and always thought that would happen with the over crowding. A few years back they they switched Lake Rupert from 9.9 to idle with the big motors. The crowd size really did not change, but it did allow someone like me to idle around the lake and save the trolling motor. I have also fished Lake Hope a few times, to get to the cove in the back is a 20 minute troll at 100% throttle.
Plus, I think their standards are not consistant. As an example is Lake White, unlimited HP Lake of which I have fished a few times. It is a 333 acre lake...Now, take Burr Oak Lake which was a 9.9 for a looooong time at 687 Acres, but now is an idle lake. I have fished both, and never understood how Burr Oak was 9.9, yet Lake White was unlimited.
What we cannot obtain from intelligence, we can learn from experience.
i believe that a lot of it has to do with people thinking that gas motors hurt drinking water .... you know how many guys take a leak in there... would love to see some water around here has idle so i could fish them
