Thread: ALMOST a State record Hybrid (wiper)

Took a buddy out yesterday on the MISS river to Run the boat and hit one spot where I have caught bass and Whites before, but not this late in the year..
I was throwing my RC.5 on 4lb line, DX701c/Pixy SPR as its a blast catching smaller whites on the combo..
Made about 2 casts and had one small white in the 1.5lb range and the next cast I thought I snagged the back end of an Asian carp as it felt like dead weight and was sort of ripping drag..
So I babied the fish till I could get it close to the Boat and then saw it wasnt a CARP!
I told my buddy to get the net as it was a huge Wiper..
We got it in the boat and took a ton of pics got the length and weight of it..

Thing went 26" and 18lbs
Def. a fish that I wont catch bigger!
After that one we caught a TON of big wipers and whites and it made for a GREAT mid Dec. day on the water here..
