Engine mount covers on 250 Pro xs

I have the subject engine on a 8" Bob's hydraulic plate mounted on my Ranger Z520. When I get into very rough water, the engine mount covers on the sides of the lower unit will crack and break. I was wondering if running without these covers will cause a problem, and if these things are out of the water at high speed. It seems like my rig is running slightly slower and I was trying to figure out if the extra drag without the covers is causing the slower speeds.

don't think it will hurt anything. Really don't think it is slowing you down. These covers used to crack all the time on my 225 Pro XS. Get new covers and put a glob of silicone on the back ( to reinforce) , let it try then install.

All those covers do is cover your lower engine mounts. Just make that black motor look pretty. Yes you can run without them.

A "silver dollar size" glob of black silicone (right in the middle of the cover on the inside) will often rectify this issue.

These are simply a decorate cover.

There will be newer covers (and a replacement mount cover to match them) at some point- which utilizes "three screws" to attach them.

The silicone method works quite nicely, however.

How many times will Mercury replace them under warranty?

I have been waiting for the "NEW" ones, but I need to get a new set.

They would be replaced anytime "a defect in materials or workmanship exists" (for the duration of the warranty).
