    Alpha 211 Speed Question

Set up: 2011 Alpha 211 with a 250 Mercury Pro XS, has a Fury prop - I don't know how low the motor sits below the pad. It has a manual jack-plate. It has 2 eight foot power poles.

Question: He can only get 68 mph out of it with a tournament load, 2 people, and between 1/4 to a full tank of gas. RPMs are around 5900 to 6000. What is the normal top-end with these boats with that set up? Is he peaked? Thoughts?

    Thanks,

so did I.....the boat ran 74 when I first got it, with less stuff and a new spotless prop, wonder if we could get away with a 26 fury and still have a reasonable holeshot

My boat will run from 66-71 depending on weight, wind, full live well, full gas tank, tackle, so many variables in place. What the problem is so many guys telling boat speed with it empty perfect day, conditions, etc.

I run a 26 fury on my 08 alpha 211 with 250xs...tournament load with 2 people i consistently run 68-69mph. Hole shot leaves much to be desired but just didn't like the 25 fury on mine...ran best with 27 tempest but ears kept cracking.

I run an '09 211 with 250 ProXS with a 10" Bob's Hydraulic plate and a stock 26 Fury. I typically get 70 - 71.5 at 5800 RPM's loaded, empty, 2 guys, family of 4, full tanks, empty...you name it. It just runs consistent. Hole shot isn't hateful unless it's loaded heavy.

So my buddy has a balanced and blueprinted 25 Fury and I tried this weekend. Holeshot was a ton better, mid range was great. The boat was loaded heavy with two people. It easily hit 5900+ RMP's but topped out at 68.5 to 69 MPH. I could raise the plate and easily get the beeper to go off but just couldn't squeeze anymore speed.

My normal routine for my launch and run is: Set the plate at 2.5 on the gauge, lower trim smash gas. Immediately once it breaks over start trimming up until it's all the way and boat stabilizes. By now I am usually bumping 70 +/- a few tenths and I'm sitting at 5650. I then take the plate up to 4.25 with frees the motor up to 5800 ish but the trick is to bump the trim back down with two quick taps with your right hand. It will pick up another .75 MPH or so. That's normally how I roll!! LOL

Really the only thing that is affected by the load is the holeshot. Top end isn't changed that much.

I have a 2013 211with a 250 pro xs. Light load I can get 74.8, with two people and loaded I get 70.2. I do no have the power poles or extra battery. I have not changed the factory set up and run the 25 fury prop. I load pretty heavy up front, so I have to trim quite a bit to get the lift, then bump it back down a little.
