    Bobcats in KY.

Friend of mine killed a 25 pound Bobcat on his farm today, about 4 miles from where I grew up in Garrard Co. Pic in the Hunting Board.....

    Re: Bobcats in KY. (BeeNix)

I hadn't seen one in the wild until 3 years ago. That year I saw 3 different cats on the farm I hunt. One was a small kitten that ran down the acess road in front of my truck. Another I killed, and another came out in the river bottoms I hunt but was way to far for a shot. I see them VERY regularly now. Very cool animals.

They are protected in Indiana, very hefty find if you get caught killing one.

I've heard them scream around Herrington at night, this farm is maybe 2 miles from Herrington. Their scream will make your neck hair stand up!

    Re: Bobcats in KY. (stratos195)

The bobcat population is up from what it was several years ago. They used to be protected in Ky but now they actully have a season for hunting bobcats. About 7-8 years ago I had one come within 40-50 yards of my turkey decoy before he got scared and ran off...he was no where near as nervous as I was

I live in south central Ky (Adair Co.) and I have seen 3-4 live bobcats. I have a friend that hunts them and he has been forunatue enough to harvest a couple.

I've seen them once or twice down at Nolin, wandering along up in the woods while I was fishing. They were making a hell of a racket, sounded like big cats screaming.

The Bobcat population seems to be increasing around these parts as well as the coyotes. Very neat animal to watch in the wild.

I have never actually been down the road that your farm is on, but from 992 it looks like nice hardwooded hills. On my farm, we have several areas where there are giant rocks/cliffs where these bobcats are normally seen. The most recent one though was the black cat that chased a doe out of the field. Just inside the wood line though, is a couple of cliffs that we see bobcat tracks around very often.

Hills is right!!! Our farm is pretty much vertical acres!!! We have a creek that starts at the top side of our farm...it is lined with small cliffs on both sides. We see lots of fox along it but no cittycats.

We've got them around central Indiana too. I've never seen one though. It's just been in the last several years that the Indiana DNR has admitted that their are big cats in Indiana.
