Strip Pit Fishing Clubs in Central/Southern IL. Big Bass ??

I am looking for nice peaceful weekend fishing on Strip pits with ramps. I know of Banner,Pyramid parks which I would like your opinions. I really am looking for Big Bass Pits with ramps. Are there any free pits still left around Pyramid or Sparta or west of Springfield ?? Any really good clubs with a few lakes and maybe a yearly dues. Please post or pm info on any real good fishin pits/lakes. Thanks.

Jim Edgar Panther Creek is just north of Ashland and allows gas motors but you have to idle if over a certain HP. Very clear lake and full of wood and weeds.

Ranger please use pms with your questions. This question is very important to me, please use pm's. You are not adding anything positive to my original question.

I don't know what the limit is, but I can guarantee it's less than 225. You can idle from one end to the other in about 15 min, so I really wouldn't worry about it.

Bassnetter, I grew up around Pyramid, all the good cuts have been fished, no secrets anymore. If you really want peaceful fishing with a chance at a toad, you really can't beat Cedar which has been talked about a lot here lately. Washington county and Pinckneyville city lake come to mind too if you want to catch a toad and not be bothered by other boats.

Banner has three main lakes. 25hp limit. Decent ramps and quality fish. Its a really fun place when the frog bite is on. You could probably spend a whole week there and not see all the water. Very nice quality fish (lots of 3-4lbers) I know there are bigger fish there but my skills haven't allowed me to catch them yet i always go to banner when i feel frustrated with fishing, cause i can usually catch a good number of fish... good luck where ever you end up

Peabody river king in new Athens has many lakes to choose from. 2 have nice ramps and a 9.9 no wake limit. Several are trolling motor only. Here is a link DNR

Thanks Dennis for understanding my Question. I never knew of Peabody and will have to give Banner a try someday soon. I bought a boat with a 25hp for the power plant lakes that I can use for Banner plus I always can switch engines to a old 9.9 I have in the garage. Sahara is a must see on this list too !!.Thanks Guys for the great tips. Any other hidden gems left for me to explore ??

Drove out to Peabody yesterday just to check it out. There were 3 boats on the last lake on the left and that was it. Didn't see another soul on any of the other lakes. Mainly wanted to check the ramps in case I get real desperate and want to launch the CAT there. Ramps looked good but that is a lot of trolling as these are strip pit lakes, long and narrow. COULD NOT BELIEVE how clear the first lake on the left as you come in is. It had to be 10 ft visibility and with the grass in there it really looked nice. It's the lake they stock trout in in the fall. The rest of the lakes looked pretty stained. You could only get a bass rig in 2 of the lakes

Eagle and beaver are probably the only two lakes you could launch a small rig at. The ramp at eagle may be a bit too rough for a larger boat. I have seen larger boats on beaver in the past.beaver is the largest lake at the end of the facility on the left. Nice place.
