I'd probably shoot him to keep from coyote's getting him. That's the first time I've seen a 3 legged deer though. Nice pic

That's what gets me fired up about somebody taking crack shots, bad shots or not getting their rifles sighted in...they deserve better than having to suffer like that!
I had one show up in my back yard a few years back, she acted like all was good. But it kinda tore me up!

Why do you think the coyotes would get him. I've seen several over the years live with 3 legs.

If the guy that shot him is anything like me he is still worried about one that got away. I been hunting the one I shot last week every chance I get with no luck. I worry myself to crazy over stuff like that. Deer are truly amazing critters. Think about it, He was shot in lower leg, and Im sure an infection took the leg away. Yet here he is with a full rack, small but full, and other than the leg he looks relatively healthy. Ive shot a few in my time that had arrows stuck in them. One 125 gr Muzzy almost took my index finger off before I figured out what was stopping my knife. I read the science on it once and its pretty amazing stuff how their body starts to heal, and how much they can heal from..

For about 5 years now, we have had a 3 legged deer running around our place. In a group of does, she can run just as well as them. The past 2 springs, she has had twins. You would be amazed how well they can do with 3 legs. Im not sure if she was born this way or she had her leg shot off. I am pretty sure she was born with only 3 legs though. That buck will do fine!

We were hunting once when one of the guys shot a 3 legged deer. When we got
up to it one of the back legs was missing at the knee, but was healing nicely.
He didn't see that it had 3 legs until he got up to it to tag it.

Don't know if it was shot or broke it somehow

I shot this one several years ago. He came out late and I could tell that he was limping and I assumed that he was injured. When I shot he took of running and looked like any other deer running. I was some what shocked when I got to the deer.
