    2014 Humminbird GPS/Depthfinder News

As per your guys request to keep you informed, we have new information about the new Humminbird lineup. To start, I would like to let you know that there are no new touch screens coming from Humminbird, or no plans that we were told about, we asked and were told no touch screens next year. With that said, there are going to be new 1100, 900, and 800 series units. All with faster processor speeds and new faceplates and buttons, and internal GPS. They are also discontinuing the 500 and 700 series and introducing the 600 series to take their place. They will also be releasing a KVD 1100 and 900 series units. These units will start to be available in November and slowly work their way into next year sometime. If you have any questions about these, please feel free to give us a call and we would be more than happy to answer any questions that you have.

Thank you. I am hoping to pick up a couple of 2013 900 or 1100 models on closeout to setup my boat. I'm hoping that more news comes out and we see some closeout pricing :)

Will the new Humminbird 600 series have a similar price point to the new Lowrance ELITE -5 HDI 83/200 455/800? I am in the market to upgrade my electronics so Im trying to wait and see what Humminbird comes out with. If I was going to buy today I would go with the Lowrance ELITE -5 HDI because it is about $100 per unit lower than the humminbird597ci HD DI with the same features. I would rather have a humminbird but Im starting to get a itchy trigger finger. Thanks for the Info!

Ranger, I have an almost new 597ci hd DI combo that I put on a boat, used for 3 trips, then upgraded boats and pulled it off before selling the boat. I want something bigger on the new boat so I am probably going to sell this one. If you are interested, PM me. We can figure out what's a fair price.

That info is probably still undisclosed.

But what interested me is the KVD graph? I wonder if Hbird is just trying to pull in the newer fishing crowd or if it will have special features built into it? Like maybe the hydro wave or if its just going to have his name so he gets more royalties. Sounds kinda disappointing to me that there's nothing new, at least it sounds that way at this point. Maybe the faster processor will let it take upgrades that some of you have been wanting.

Internal GPS, would that give you a worse EPE? It kinds sounds like bird is laying all their eggs into the 360 basket. Guess we will see when it's "official"?

So, has there been an official announcement? Someone says they never release ANY info on upcoming products until the official announcement.

Our Rep came by and handed us a book with information and actual pictures of the new units. We also have prices on these units, and as for the 600 series, we are going to have the 698ci HD SI Combo for $729.99, and the 688ci HD DI Combo for $559.99. So as for the price point between the Elite-5 HDI and the 688ci HD DI will be about the same. As for the KVD edition units, it says that there is going to be a KVD tips book included with the unit as well as a different look on the faceplate. It also says that there will be a special value-add item, but there isn't any more information other than that. If you guys have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call, we are always here to help.

Great job on keeping people posted Keith! Seems like the resident expert/pro would do the same, does it not? So it doesn't sound like too many of the guys who wanted an upgrade will be thrilled. Oh wait, the KVD tips & tricks book might pull the wool over their eyes!

Are you allowed to post up pics? Wait, they didn't even come out with a larger graph???? Aye yi yie, not gonna be good for competition.

So they will be coming out in November but couldn't announce at the Icast show?? So I, and many others, bought new units based on the fact they made no announcements and NOW they decide to announce them?? Sorry guys but this is total crap based on the fact they didn't want to steal the bow-mount 360 thunder at I cast.......

If it wasn't for the Ipilot Link being the bomb I would not rig the boat I am buying with my 1198's..........

Im sure there is a reason for the delayed announcement. Its electronics, software, etc. Things slip. I'm a 20+ year software industry guy. I've seen it plenty of times. These things are little computers. I am sure something held them up and caused the delay. That stuff happens. In the end, you have to stick with the longer performance, rather than a one time blip. Otherwise, you will swap more often than you should. I'm glad to hear of new models, but there's nothing compelling there to me. I am still hoping for a couple of units on closeout pricing. I need 2 units more than I need 1 2014 model.

It's funny, I spoke with a HB rep this year at Toledo Bend who pretty much informed me with similar information, however no real pictures or dates. I posted my conversation on this forum and was instantly bombarded with comments relating to the validity of my conversation...

I think the reason these new models were not announced previously was based solely on the amount of dealer inventory they have in the channel. Good or bad, i think the key is to get as much money for the existing units as you can before you notice your numbers slip in anticipation of new products. Remember, with every corporation it's all about the money. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just economics. In the end it is the consumer who suffers if they think they are getting the latest and greatest technology.

Ok. So I hear you on most of that. However, think about this. If the info heard in this post is all the changes we can expect, did anyone really miss out on anything significant if they bought a new unit last week? Sounds like just faster processing speed. In electronics, that's almost a guarantee with each rev of the product. New buttons?

New buttons and a KVD edition!!!!! Wow, I bet Doug is excited about that one. Now if KVD will put that bow 360 on his boat all of our dreams will come true. If this info is really all that's changing even I will be disappointed!

Perhaps not- I'll be sporting my existing units for a while even if the new units are re-designed, etc. The only thing the faster process means to me at this time, is that the units will be quicker to throw up an error message from the flawed updates HB is notorious for releasing..
