    93 Evinrude 115 HP V4 VRO Pump

    93 Evinrude 115 HP V4 with Trim
Manufacturers # G03189060 (sorry, thats the only number I have)
I recently priced the VRO pump (part # 5007420) for the above outboard motor.
The price from a local dealer was $345. That sounds expensive!
First question, is that the correct part number?
Should I replace the pump or buy a repair/rebuild kit first?
The previous owner disconnected the oil side of the pump and it's not a big deal to me to mix the gas and oil in the tank. Does anyone know if a replacement pump (FUEL ONLY - NO OIL) is made for this motor, what the part number is and where I can find it.
Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

5007420 is the correct pump. The Fuel Only pump is number 5007422 and should be about $100.00 less. Dealer can order either. If it were me and I was going back to the VRO, I would replace the pump..

    Re: 93 Evinrude 115 HP V4 VRO Pump (rickdb1)

    Thanks Rick,
I bought the new VRO pump but I have one more question.
The existing VRO pump has the oil line plugged up and the (4) wires were cut by the previous owner.
Can I install the new VRO pump without the oil line hooked up and leave the wires unplugged? Will this hurt the NEW pump any?
The boat has a 30 gallon tank which is currently full with premixed gas and oil. With the boating season nearing the end, the 30 gallons should last me up to the time I need to winterize it. I plan on reconnecting the oil side next Spring.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

It will not hurt the VRO any as long as you cap off any openings on the VRO. If you don't intend to use it return it to your dealer and get your $100.00 back if you don't want to do that then send it to me or any of the other moderators here. If you aren't going to use the VRO just get the fuel only pump.

Re: 93 Evinrude 115 HP V4 VRO Pump (ChampioNman)

    Thanks ChampioNman,
Let me give you a little more history on this motor.
The boat was tied to a tree in the back yard of the previous owners river cabin for the past three years. I replace battery and plugs and it started on the second or third try. Ran great for about a month, then I started having problems. I rebuilt the carbs and found chunks of rubber in the carbs from what I thought were
dry-rotted fuel lines. Replaced all fuel lines from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the carbs. Even replaced all vacumn lines. As I mentioned in a prior post, the previous owner disconnected the oil side of the pump by cutting the wires and plugging the oil line OUTSIDE the engine cover. All lines under the cover are still connected on the existing pump. Is this the correct way to disconnect the oil side of the pump? The mechanic who rebuilt the carbs told me that the rubber chunks found in the carbs may be coming from a rubber diafram inside the VRO pump. Could this be true? Also, I plan to replace all oil lines and connect them to the NEW pump so I can use the VRO system in the future. All I would need to do next Spring is install a tank and line to the connection OUTSIDE the engine cover.
Just want to get it right. The Mississippi River is no place to break down.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
