    Gearcase Lubricant - OMC Ultra-HPF

    1999 175HP Evinrude FICHT Model# E175FPLEEC

First winter with my boat and owners manual calls for OMC Ultra-HPF gearcase lube. I guess this stuff is no longer available.

What do you guys recommend to use now?

Evinrude HPF-Pro is the currently recommended gear oil for all mechanically shifted gear cases for Johnson or Evinrudes

You still may find HPF-Ultra and HPF-XR as new old stock for quite a few years.

I have the exact same gear case as you do on my 99 150. I have owned it since 01 and myself and the previous owner has always used Amsoil Marine gear lube.

this has been posted before, a test of popular gearcase oils and how they performed both with and without water in them. The results are interesting as no particular oil wins every test. Some of the well known ones finish first in one test but dead last in another.

1999 Johnson 225 HO Amsoil Marine gear lube. STUFF still looks good after year of use ,no burnt smell , seemed to shift smoother all year than before.
